I’ve been in the Smoky Mountains for a few days now and will be staying through this coming weekend. It’s my first time visiting in winter, making it an entirely new experience.
It’s been mild, dashing my hopes of experiencing snowfall in the Smokies, but there are holiday decorations up everywhere. The streets are lit with cheerful snowflakes and garlands, setting the festive mood despite the lack of snow.
There’s been some neat changes in the town of Townsend as well. In the past year a new winery has moved in, as well as an organic and fair trade cafe. I’ll be writing more about them when I return home. I love being able to support local businesses!
