Dawn On The Tundra

Image

Occasionally I fail to capture a photo in a technically adequate way, but still feel the need to share the results. This photograph isn’t nearly as sharp as I’d like, but I still love the overall mood and the memories it brings back.

This past September, I realized something odd.  For all the time I’d spent photographing in Rocky Mountain National Park, I’d never photographed the sunrise from the alpine tundra.  Surprisingly, neither had my shooting partner who happens to live in Colorado.  So, the next day we found ourselves up where the air is thin, alone save for the elk and the morning sky.
