In 2008 a friend and I were camping at Tuckahoe State Park here on the eastern shore of Maryland. By a stroke of good luck, we happened to be there on a day when “Scales & Tales” was being offered. Scales and Tales is an environmental education program provided by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. This program uses live and non-releasable birds of prey and reptiles to teach the public about environmental stewardship.
Its an amazing program and a thrill to be able to see these beautiful birds up close and personal. Meeting these educators and their birds was an unforgettable experience that I’m fortunate to have been able to capture in photos during and after the program.
