The cabins and buildings depicted in this trio of entries are located in the Daisy Town section of Elkmont, near the restored lodge. I believe that most of these cabins will be renovated and not amongst the 29 buildings currently slated for demolition. Still, there’s something a little sad about the town, even knowing that the buildings will be salvaged. How many of the original doors will be reused? How true to original will the refinished buildings be?
I hope they save as much as they possibly can, even from the buildings they plan to demolish. As of this spring, a lot of work will be started or completed in Elkmont. When I return this fall, I wonder how much will remain.
